Running is invigorating. Running for a cause is inspiring—for the participants and the beneficiaries. On Wednesday, Sept. 11, during the week of IMTS 2024, more than 560 participants laced up their sneakers to participate in the Miles for Manufacturing (M4M) 5K, raising more than $47,000 to support 17 organizations focused on STEM education.  This year marked the 10th anniversary of M4M. During the past decade, runners from every corner of the manufacturing community have helped to raise more than $240,000 to support education programs in advanced manufacturing and STEM throughout the country. M4M is community fundraising at its best, with current manufacturing professionals supporting the next generation as they strive to gain critical skills and fill essential roles in the industry. The 2024 event was an incredible success, uniting industry leaders and supporters to raise vital funds for STEM education. Thanks to our participants and sponsors, we’re not only empowering the next generation of innovators, but also supporting initiatives that are ensuring a bright future for manufacturing and the communities we serve. The 2024 M4M was not just a milestone event, it was also a record breaker. Proceeds from the event totaled $47,445, a new record that surpassed the previous high bar met in 2018 by more than $6,000. These funds included $28,750 from 19 generous sponsors and $18,695 collected from the 568 registrants.  Donations will go to 17 organizations including 12 FIRST Robotics teams, the Women in Manufacturing Education Foundation, and more than $10,000 to the Children First Fund - The Chicago Public Schools Foundation. M4M is AMT’s annual community fundraising event. Since the inception of the race, GIE Media, Inc. has partnered with AMT to make the event possible with promotion and logistics support, as well as onsite race staff assistance. The IMTS tradeshow pays all of the hard costs of producing the M4M, so 100% of the money raised from sponsorship and registration fees gets distributed to support schools and trade education programs.  Run With Us in 2025 The 2025 Miles for Manufacturing 5K Run/Walk will occur at AMT’s MFG Meeting 2025 on February 21, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas.
